BEHIND THE WHEEL / Depeche Mode Full Cover by Piano & Whisky

From the 1987 album, 「MUSIC FOR THE MASSES」was Depeche Mode's sixth and as far as I recall their first Platinum album in the U.S.. This was followed by a successful tour in the U.S. and now-famous 101 live album recorded at Pasadena, California. 「MUSIC FOR THE MASSES」was probably my third favorite album by Depeche Mode, i.e. after 「BLACK CELEBRATION」and 「VIOLATOR」. But it has so many great songs and marked the beginning of the "rock-style" sound with Martin Gore's guitar riffs. Alan Wilder's wizardry in Emulator-based sampling was again apparent throughout the entire production.

As Depeche Mode fan, I arranged and recorded the backing track for 「BEHIND THE WHEEL」 in 1993/4, and have always enjoyed performing it. I've now recorded guitars, vocals, back vocals and did the final mix for this cover in 2020.

I already owned the 7" vinyl single,  as well as cassette and CD albums back in the 80/90's and later acquired the 2007 re-release on vinyl.
