Here's my take on the classic A-HA hit song from 1985 !
People today post (artificially) funny things, beautiful things and happy stories on Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Tik-Tok, and such. I vaguely recall in an old movie where a son was in a relationship crisis with his wife, he was filing for divorce and complained to his mother that his marriage wasn't easy like his own parent's marriage. That's when his mum told him that just because the photo albums only recorded happy moments, it didn't meant their marriage life was a breeze.
In「THE SUN ALWAYS SHINES ON TV」, Pål Waaktaar's lyrics sings about how the TV depicted the "perfect" relationship, the "perfect" lifestyle like how social media is full of images from people's expectations of the "perfect" life. In reality, life is both happy and challenging moments but that's what makes life interesting.
I played all the instruments and sang all vocal parts, including the choir part in this cover. It is always a challenge to sing Morton Harket's songs, so I'm not going to make it a goal to mimick his wonderful voice. The rest of the arrangement for the cover were largely faithful to the original which was classic synth-pop orchestration.
